Marvel at the archaic landscape of the appropriately named Rainbow Valley, with its sandstone cliffs with bands of coloured rock. The reserve is also abundant in signs of Aboriginal occupation due to its rock engravings and paintings. There are also several stone tools and grinding stones that can be found around the ridges and hills.
Rainbow Valley has many holiday parks listed with Campstay and is a popular destination for sandstone rock formations, walking trails, sand dunes and other geological formations.
The vibrant bands in the sandstone rock face were caused by the iron in the sandstone layers being dissolved by water. The red iron minerals formed a dark surface layer and mixed with the leached white layers underneath, giving the cliffs its colourful surface.
Booking your next Rainbow Valley adventure holiday has never been easier. Campstay offers a great selection of camping options in and around Rainbow Valley which include family friendly camp sites, motorhome and campervan powered sites, caravan parks and cabins.
