The town itself is situated on the shores of Anderson Inlet, a sheltered bay where Tarwin River meets the Bass Strait. The shallow inlet gives off a beautiful blue-green turquoise colour, while the beach has an expanse of soft sand, with a grassy dunes in the background. Hike along the western headlands at low tide to get to the surfing beaches.
